When it comes to web design, it’s more
than just creating a visually appealing website. It also involves improving
functionality and accessibility. Having a good web design makes it so that
people are more drawn to the site and are encouraged to stay and browse. Here
are some mistakes to avoid in web design:
·
Unreadable fonts – There is a plethora of fonts available,
and while some of them look fancy and can give a sophisticated look, the
question is: are they readable? This also goes for the font size as well.
·
The site isn’t mobile friendly – Perhaps one of the most
important things nowadays is to make the website readable on mobile devices.
People make use of their smartphones and tablets to browse the Internet, so the
website must be in a form that it is easy to browse and the user must not just
be presented with the desktop version that is difficult to navigate on a small
screen.
·
Overusing Flash – While Flash is great and all, having too
much of it can bog down the site and make the visit unpleasant for users. It’s
okay to have some Flash elements, but only for features that are not ideal for
static pages.
·
The website looks generic – Although one of the design
trends is having ‘minimalistic design’, there’s a difference between minimal
and lazy. The website’s design must be unique and well-made.
